Because we do not know if a budget will be enacted into law in time to avoid a disruption to our operations, we must advise you that in the absence of legislatively authorized appropriations enacted into law as of July 1, 2011, a majority of DEED’s operations will cease.  These include, but are not limited to:

DEED Headquarters
Buildings will be closed.

Minnesota WorkForce Centers
Will be closed in most instances.  Resource Rooms at all WorkForce Centers will be closed.  In some cases, a small percentage of services may be provided at select locations, when those services are provided by DEED partners.  Please call before visiting any WorkForce Center to determine program availability.

State Services for the Blind
Locations will be closed and Radio Talking Book will not be on the air.  Any services SSB provides or purchases on behalf of customers will be suspended.  This includes all services from SSB such as training, equipment purchases and transportation payments.

Vocational Rehabilitation Services
Offices will be closed and all counseling, career planning and placement, and long-term job supports for people with disabilities will cease.  All activity will be suspended in the Vocational Rehabilitation, Extended Employment and Independent Living programs.  All contracted services on behalf of clients with significant disabilities, including payments to community rehabilitation programs and centers for independent living, will be suspended.

Minnesota’s Job Bank
Our website www.MinnesotaWorks.net – will be turned off.

Small Business Development Centers
Some of the centers in the statewide network may be open with limited services. Others will be closed. Call ahead before you visit individual centers.
