Labor Market Information


Purpose
This program collects, analyzes, and disseminates key labor market indicators, information, and analysis on the economy, workforce, industry base, and job market in Minnesota to support informed decision-making.

Customers and Services
Customers include businesses, economic developers, students, job seekers, education and training planners, workforce development professionals, policymakers, government entities, media, and the general public. Labor market information (LMI) is collected in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Data products include monthly employment and unemployment estimates; quarterly statistics on covered employment and wages by area and industry; occupational employment and wages estimates; job vacancy estimates; demographics of Unemployment Insurance claimants; employment projections by occupation and industry; and wage distributions for the state and regions. Publications include Minnesota Economic Trends and Minnesota Employment Review. Services include consultation on labor market analysis and research design, LMI and career information training seminars, public education about the job market, and presentations and briefings.
