Minnesota Science and Technology Initiative

The Recommendations for a Minnesota Science and Technology Initiative report reviews and analyzes science and technology best practices implemented in other states and outlines what the future of science and technology development should look like in Minnesota.

The report is the outgrowth of the Minnesota Science and Technology Economic Development Project, an effort launched by the 2009 Legislature and led by DEED's commissioner.

The project brought science and technology experts from the public, academic, and private sectors to assess the state’s science and technology capabilities, and make recommendations to the Legislature.

The  16-member committee issued its report and recommendations on January 15, 2010, with proposals for long-term governance and program development, as well as near-term initiatives for legislative action during the 2010 session.
