Application Process for Educational Institutions
Upon meeting with a business to discuss training needs, it is recommended that the educational institution contact MJSP staff to discuss the project’s potential fit with MJSP programs.
For most MJSP programs, the educational institution is the grant applicant and takes the lead in developing the grant proposal in partnership with the business partner(s).
MJSP also strongly encourages the submission of draft proposals at least two weeks prior to application due-dates.
Eligibility
With the exception of the Low Income Worker Training program, all MJSP programs require that the training is provided by an accredited Minnesota educational institution. See Accredited Educational Institutions for information on accreditation requirements. For other program specific eligibility requirements, refer to the application instructions for each program.
Format
All requests for funding must be submitted as formal application proposals to the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership Office. See Application Instructions and Forms for specific guidelines and proposal format requirements for each of our programs.
Timetables
Proposals are typically due six weeks before each MJSP Board meeting, with the exception of Short Form applications which are due three weeks before MJSP Board meetings. Applications must be submitted on or before application due-dates.
The MJSP staff evaluate applications and make recommendations to the Board. The Board then reviews the applications and recommendations and awards grants in accordance with guidelines adopted by the Board.
For grant requests of over $50,000, a representative from the educational institution and business are asked to provide a short presentation to the MJSP Board and answer any questions the Board may have at the scheduled Board meeting.
See the Application Schedule for a summary of proposals being accepted, proposal due-dates, MJSP meeting dates and for official Request for Proposal notices.
