Minnesota Workforce One Technical Requirements
Hardware
The WORKFORCE ONE application will reside on a central server and access is through the Internet. All the processing is done on the central server, which is why PC specifications are minimal. If an agency has personal computers with the specifications listed below, they will be able to run WORKFORCE ONE. If an agency is purchasing personal computers the minimum specifications available are going to be much higher. The minimum recommended specifications to run WORKFORCE ONE are:
- CPU: 233MHZ Intel Pentium II processor
- Memory: 64MB RAM
- Hard Drive: 5 GB
- Floppy disk drive: 3.5”, 1.44 MB
- Monitor: 17” Color, Super VGA
- Keyboard and mouse
- Operating system: Windows 98 or above
If an agency is planning on running multiple applications at the same time, consideration should be given to purchasing a higher end computer. A higher end computer will provide greater efficiencies for the user.
Software
WORKFORCE ONE will reside on a central server and accessed through the Internet. There will not be a software application residing on individual PC’s.
Microsoft Internet Explorer is the preferred browser. The latest version or the previous version of Explorer or Netscape will need to be installed.
Connectivity
Access to WORKFORCE ONE is through the Internet. Agencies using WORKFORCE ONE from locations other than WFC’s will need to make their own arrangements with an Internet provider. A 56KB line will work but performance will depend on how much other traffic is on the line. A 56KB line with PC/modem will be slow and will give minimal performance.
Viruses
Firewalls and anti-virus software are in place to prevent WORKFORCE ONE from contracting a virus. PC’s must have virus protection software installed to protect applications and documents from contracting a virus. Contact your System Administrator with questions and concerns.
