Training and Technical Assistance Center


The Minnesota Employment Training and Technical Assistance Center (MNTAT) designs and provides state-of-the-art, person-centered employment training and technical assistance to increase participation of Minnesotans with disabilities in the workforce. Pathways to Employment has contracted with Griffin-Hammis Associates, LLC to develop and operate MNTAT.

MNTAT utilizes evidence-based, innovative methods of supporting individuals in achieving their employment goals, bringing together the needs of a wide variety of stakeholders, including employment seekers, the business community, service providers, policy makers, families, educators and workforce development professionals. Focus is across all disabilities, serving all regions in Minnesota.

Using a variety of formats and media to respond to the training and technical assistance needs of employers and employees throughout the state, MNTAT builds flexible supports and training strategies designed to increase and improve the employment outcomes of Minnesotans with disabilities.

MNTAT provides a web-based curriculum leading to Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) Customized Employment Certification. Topics include:

  • Introduction to Customized Employment
  • Introduction to Self-Employment
  • Discovery and Customized Assessment
  • Resource Ownership
  • Active Employer Councils
  • Customized Job Development Strategies
  • Job Analysis and Worksite Instructional Strategies
  • Negotiation Tactics for Customized Employment
  • Pass Plans and Related SSA Work Incentives
  • Conducting Informational Interviews

MNTAT provides a variety of other services, including:

  • Conducting a series of Webinars on Evidence-Based Supported Employment presented in collaboration with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
  • Planning and hosting two statewide employment conferences.
  • Establishing several local Community Action Teams (CATs) to act as demonstrations, developing best-practice examples that support the full employment of Minnesotans with disabilities.

The MNTAT website (www.mntat.org)is the primary source of information about this initiative and its communication hub. 

The Web site links to a library of webinars, video training and written materials related to disability employment topics. MNTAT is a clearinghouse for training and events within Minnesota, and as resource for Minnesotans seeking additional training and support in their employment pursuits.
