Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) Grants
In 2009, PTE partnered with the Minnesota Department of Education for the Building Capacity to Create Work Experiences and Competitive Employment Opportunities for High School Students with Disabilities grant opportunity to local school districts. The purpose of these grants is to help local school districts improve outcomes for transition-age students with disabilities, by supporting interagency planning and increasing opportunities for work experiences. The desired outcome of these grants is competitive employment of youth with disabilities and strengthened local partnerships with community employers and other key stakeholders. Eight school districts were selected in early 2010 as the recipients of these grants. Other PTE models including E-Mentoring and Camps2Careers are being utilized to eliminate barriers for students to go to work.
The eight grant recipients are:
- Intermediate District #287
- Intermediate District #917
- Minneapolis
- Mahtomedi
- Robbinsdale
- Southwest & West Central Service Cooperative
- Southern Plains Educational
- St. Cloud
