Training Grants
Through our Minnesota Jobs Skills Partnership program we work strategically with businesses and schools to train or retrain workers, expand opportunities, and keep high-quality jobs in the state.
Grants of up to $400,000 are awarded to educational institutions that partner with businesses to develop new-job training or retraining for existing employees.
All training projects pair at least one public or private accredited Minnesota educational institution and one business.
Funds may be used for training-related costs or educational infrastructure improvements necessary to support businesses located or intending to locate in Minnesota.
A cash or in-kind contribution from the contributing business must match program funds on at least a one-to-one ratio.
We offer training grants in five different program areas:
- Our Partnership Program focuses on customized training new and existing workers
- Our Pathways Program focuses on providing customized training for people who are making a transition from public assistance to work
- Our Health Care and Human Services Program focuses on customized training for new and existing workers in those respective industries.
- Our Low-Income Worker Program focuses on providing short-term, general training to help low-income workers gain new skills and move into higher paying jobs.
- Our Special Incumbent Worker Program focuses on customized training to help existing workers gain new skills currently in demand.
