On a seasonally adjusted basis the July CPI-U increased 0.5 percent from June and 3.6 percent from July 2010, not seasonally adjusted. The energy index increased by 2.8 percent, partially reversing last month’s decline. The increase was driven by gasoline prices, up 4.7 percent, with energy services up slightly as well. The index for food at home increased 0.6 percent over the month. The July index for all items less food and energy rose 0.2 percent over the month and 1.8 percent from July 2010.
The Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN-WI index for the first half of the year increased 3.0 percent over the year.
