U.S. Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI_U)

December 2011

On a seasonally adjusted basis the November CPI-U was unchanged from October and increased 3.4 percent from November 2010, not seasonally adjusted. The overall lack of change was actually a result of declines in energy prices offset by increases in food and all items less food and energy. Energy fell 1.6 percent, primarily because of a 2.4 percent decline in the cost of gasoline. Food increased 0.1 percent over the month. The largest gain in all items less food and energy was 0.6 in apparel. The November index for all items less food and energy rose 0.2 percent over the month and rose 2.2 percent from November 2010.
