U.S. Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U)


February 2011

On a seasonally adjusted basis the January CPI-U increased 0.4 percent from December and 1.6 percent from January 2010. The index for energy increased 2.1 percent from December to January. The food index rose 0.5 percent from December. The January index for all items less food and energy rose 0.2 percent. The 12-month change in the index for all items less food and energy rose 1 percent from January of 2010. The Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington CPI-U for the second half of 2010 was 212.492, 1.4 percent above the second half of 2009. For the year, at 211.728, the CPI-U was 1.8 percent above the 2010 average of 207.889.
