U.S. Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U)


November 2010

On a seasonally adjusted basis the October CPI-U increased 0.2 percent from September, and it increased 1.2 percent from October 2009. The index for energy increased 0.7 percent from August to September, and it increased 2.6 percent from September to October. The food index rose 0.1 percent from September. The October index for all items less food and energy was essentially unchanged from July, August and September. However, the 12-month change in the index for all items less food and energy, at 0.6 percent, was the lowest 12-month change since the beginning of the series in 1957, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
