U.S. Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U)

On a seasonally adjusted basis the August CPI-U increased 0.1 percent from July. The August CPI-U increased 1.1 percent from August 2009. The index for energy increased 2.3 percent from July to August, the second monthly increase in a row. The food index rose 0.2 percent from July. The August index for all items less food and energy was essentially unchanged from July.
