The new Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Jobs Creation Act of 2010 was signed into law on December 17, 2010.
The law extends the 2010 individual income tax rates through 2012. (See the Guide page 18, Federal Income Tax Rates.)
The law also provides for a reduction in the employee's share of Social Security portion of FICA taxes from 6.2 percent to 4.2 percent through 2011. The employer's share remains at 6.2 percent. (See the Guide pages 252-253, FICA Tax.)
