Transportation
Economic Development Program

Overview

The Transportation Economic Development Program (TED) is a competitive grant program available to communities for highway improvement and public infrastructure projects that create jobs and support economic development.

The program is a collaboration between the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT).

The funds available for the 2012 program will be $20 million to $30 million, depending on legislative action.

  • Mn/DOT has committed $20 million in Trunk Highway funds.
  • DEED is requesting additional resources in the form of general obligation bonds in the 2012 legislative session.

The program may provide up to 70 percent of the costs for trunk highway interchanges and other improvements (which is defined as the accepted bid of the construction cost of the project) or the state’s share as determined by Mn/DOT’s cost participation policy, whichever is less.
