Audio Equipment
The Communication Center distributes, free of charge, equipment to customers to listen to the Radio Talking Book network and to National Library Service audio book recordings.
In conjunction with the Minnesota Braille and Talking Book Library in Faribault, MN, the Communication Center provides special equipment to our customers to listen to audio recordings of books and magazines. The cassette recordings are played at a slower speed that is not available on commercial machines. The National Library Service also has digital books which are played on National Library Service digital player machines.
We also distribute Radio Talking Book (RTB) receivers which provide access to the Communication Center’s closed-circuit RTB network.
Call our Communication Center’s equipment desk at 651-642-0885 or 1-800-652-9000 for more information on eligibility, services, and available equipment.
People may apply either to the Communication Center or directly to the library to become eligible to receive players and recordings. If you are interested in applying, please call either 1-800-652-9000 (Communication Center) or 1-800-722-0550 (Minnesota Braille and Talking Book Library).
