MJSP Grant Funds Training
For Capital Safety Group Employees
~Green Manufacturing Techniques Included for More than 350 Employees~

ST. PAUL – The state Department of Employment and Economic Development’s Minnesota Job Skills Partnership Program (MJSP) announced a $300,000 grant to support training for 354 employees of Capital Safety Group. The two-year training collaboration includes MJSP, Capital Safety Group and Dakota County Technical College (DCTC).
Capital Safety Group, located in Red Wing, is the world’s leading manufacturer of fall protection products, including harnesses, shock-absorbing lanyards and rescue and retrieval equipment; services and training.
Capital Safety Group and DCTC will collaborate to develop entry- and advanced-level training and retraining for shop floor managers, engineers, call center employees and managers. Training to accommodate all shifts will be offered in four- or eight hour sessions and include courses in Green Manufacturing, Wind Energy Basics, Wind Energy Safety/OSHA and Project Management 3-D Design.
“We believe Capital Safety Group’s position in the marketplace will continue to expand and create wind energy-related jobs, as a result of this project,” said DEED Commissioner and MJSP Board Chair Dan McElroy. “In addition, the partnership will build a career path leading toward leadership positions for their current workforce.

The MJSP offers technical, financial and job training assistance to businesses, communities, educational institutions and workers. The board brings businesses with specific education needs together with educational institutions to design customized training programs.
