Goodrich Breaking Ground on Expansion in Burnsville

ST. PAUL –The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is proud to join Goodrich Corporation in celebrating the expansion of the company’s Sensors and Integrated Systems business in Burnsville.

Goodrich is breaking ground on the first phase of the expansion, which is expected to create 50 jobs upon completion in 2012. The expansion adds to the company’s 243,000-square-foot facility in Burnsville. It includes a wind tunnel that can simulate aircraft environmental operating conditions and a manufacturing facility that will produce miniature sensors that are used in many of the company’s products.

“We are pleased that Goodrich has chosen Burnsville for an expansion project that will bring more jobs to the region,” said DEED Commissioner Dan McElroy. “The company has global operations and could have expanded elsewhere, but it chose to remain in the Twin Cities because of its confidence in our workforce and the community.”

DEED assisted with the project by proposing legislation that exempts the company from paying state sales taxes through 2015 on materials, supplies and equipment purchased for the expansion. Under the legislation, the sales tax will be reimbursed after the company meets goals for capital investment and job creation and retention. Gov. Tim Pawlenty signed the measure into law this spring.

“This expansion makes a strong statement about the high value our customers place on our products and the technologies that drive them,” said Phil Rosnik, vice president and general manager, Goodrich Sensors and Integrated Systems. “Our success has been built through the hard work and dedicated service of our very talented employees, past and present. We appreciate their efforts, as well as the efforts of our state and local officials, in our present success and the very bright future we’re creating for Goodrich and the state of Minnesota.”
