Freeborn County Residents Eligible for Storm Cleanup Funding
|
ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has awarded a $200,000 grant to help Freeborn County residents pay for cleaning up debris left by storms that struck the area from June 17-26.
Individuals and households may apply to the county for financial assistance with debris removal not covered by insurance or other disaster funds.
“The storms disrupted the lives of many residents in Freeborn County,” said DEED Commissioner Dan McElroy. “This funding will help people repair damages to their homes so they can return to their normal lives.”
Application forms for funding can be found on the Freeborn County website at www.co.freeborn.mn.us. The application deadline is Oct. 15. Other details are available from John Kluever, Freeborn County administrator, at 507-377-5116.
The grant was awarded under the agency’s Small Cities Development Program through funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
DEED is the state’s principal economic development agency, promoting business recruitment, expansion and retention, workforce development, international trade and community development. For more details about the agency and our services, visit us at www.PositivelyMinnesota.com.
