Grant Funds Lean Training for Johnson Memorial Employees in Dawson
|
ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has awarded a $39,843 grant to train employees at Johnson Memorial Health Services in Dawson about lean workplace practices.
The employees will receive customized training at Alexandria Technical & Community College under the grant, which was funded by the agency’s Minnesota Job Skills Partnership (MJSP).
Johnson Memorial Health Services consists of a clinic, hospital, care center, home care agency and ambulance service.
“This grant will help employees meet the challenges of changing medical reimbursements, an aging population and mandates for electronic records,” said Dan McElroy, DEED commissioner and Minnesota Job Skills Partnership board chair. “In addition, Alexandria Technical & Community College will be able to expand its lean health care curriculum.”
The training will focus on eliminating waste and identifying steps that add value to delivering health care. Forty-nine certified nursing assistants, nurses, lab and radiology technicians, and administrative staff will participate.
Classes will include “Leading Lean Sigma Healthcare in a Mixed Service Organization,” “Understanding Lean Sigma Healthcare,” “Process Mapping Options for Mixed Service Healthcare,” “Sustainable Implementation for Lean Sigma Healthcare” and “Lean Sigma Healthcare Project Mentorship.”
For more information on the grant, contact Sandy Larson, customized training coordinator, Alexandria Technical & Community College, 1-320-762-4406 or sandyl@alextech.edu.
