RSS feeds, also called news feeds, make it easier to stay informed by retrieving the latest content from your favorite websites. No more need for frequent site visits to check for fresh content. It comes to you automatically.

It works best to use feed reader or news aggregator software to receive RSS feeds. Readers allow you to retrieve and display news feeds. Popular readers include Amphetadesk (Windows, Linux, Mac), FeedReader (Windows), and NewsGator (Windows - integrates with Outlook). 

There are also a number of web-based feed readers available. My Yahoo, Bloglines, and Google Reader are popular web-based feed readers.
