Minnesota Job Opportunity Building Zones

Now in its fourth year, the JOBZ initiative continues to attract significant new business investment throughout Greater Minnesota. The economic impact in JOBZ communities and their surrounding areas has been nothing short of tremendous: tens of thousands of new and retained jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars in new capital investment.

See the most recent summary of completed JOBZ deals.

As important as they are, the numbers only tell part of the JOBZ success story. The renewed sense of optimism and enthusiasm the program inspires in communities is incalculable.

“I’ve learned to appreciate the value of rural Minnesota. The bonds are strong here. The employees need this to work. The employers need this to work. And the communities need this to work.”
– Kevin Wald, CEO of Montevideo-based Ritalka, Inc.

“I think this has been huge for Redwood Falls. I think that we’ve really learned to work together as a community to do economic development. We’ve learned that it’s everybody’s job. There’s optimism in the community that we haven’t felt in a long time.”
– Robin Stegner, President, RVI, Inc.

“Without the JOBZ zones we don’t have a lot of competitive edge, but this has been a real shot in the arm. We’ve had a lot of interest. We’re seeing results. And we’re going to use this to make things happen.”
– Luverne Mayor Glen Gust

“The JOBZ program stimulated and intensified our interest in expanding our business in Minnesota. JOBZ has given everyone involved in this project an opportunity to help this Minnesota community be more competitive in the national and global economy.”
– Jeff Broin, CEO, Broin Companies
