Assistive Technology Manual
Universal Access to Minnesota WorkForce Center Services
Universality is one of the main principles identified by the Department of Labor for the design of the one-stop service delivery system. Universal design requires that services and systems be equitable and flexible in use in order to accommodate a wide range of physical, perceptual, and cognitive abilities as well as diverse communication and cultural needs.
In order to promote better access, the WorkForce Center System has provided assistive technology for use in WorkForce Center Resource Areas. This guide will highlight the technology currently available, offer suggestions for usage and placement, and provide signage to improve customer awareness and use. The WorkForce Center System is designed to be a significant element of service delivery in employment, training, and educational services. As such, WorkForce Centers have the potential to serve the full range of a diverse population. This manual will support the efforts of all WorkForce Centers in providing seamless access to all programs, services, and activities.
