Performance Office Papers (POP) is a manufacturer and distributor of a variety of cut sheet paper products, located in Lakeville, MN.   MJSP funding will support a partnership between Dakota County Technical College and POP to provide customized training for 42 employees.  Curriculum will be developed to integrate mechatronics (automated machine controls, mechanical systems and production data communications), warehouse management systems and robotics.  Simulators and actual plant equipment will be used in classroom and OJT activities.  Software with virtual production and logistics systems will also be used.  Training will help the employees to understand the complex computerized systems and minimize equipment downtime to increase efficiencies and productivity.

St. Paul College

Lion Precision, Inc.

Lion Precision, located in St. Paul, is a small manufacturer of non-contact sensing systems which are used worldwide in large industries such as the automotive and computer industries.  Through MJSP funding, St. Paul College will provide curriculum covering Lean practices in manufacturing and business processes to all 29 Lion Precision employees.  Courses include:  Lean-Flow Basics for Manufacturing and Office, a 5-S Event, Lean-Flow Certification Manufacturing, Lean Flow Implementation and Coaching, and a Lean-Flow Event for New Product Development.  The implementation of Lean practices will allow Lion Precision to gain efficiencies that will help them maintain competitiveness and grow their business.  The project will also help St. Paul College to continue to develop and expand upon its offerings in Lean training in a variety of work environments.
