This program, designed to train 175 individuals, will meet the partner businesses’ need for highly skilled information technology workers. The project will follow a seven step agenda: developing an e-business task force, identifying key industry trainers, designing and developing a web architect career path, building an e-business computer lab, compiling consulting classes for web architects, providing professional development courses and providing continuing education for the existing workforce. MCTC   will create a career path which leads individuals from Internet development into Web Architecture. Wages will range from $24.00 to $58.00 an hour.
 

Inver Hills CC

Gold Cross Ambulance $399,339 Partnership
This Internet-based Emergency Medical Service (EMS) recertification program for 516 will improve training consistency, provide a built-in mechanism for gauging employee comprehension, and allow employees to take training courses any time. IHCC anticipates that this project will expand the college's ability to provide Internet-based instruction, create new curriculum and expand the reach of the college's full-time EMS training program. Wages will range from $8.62 to18.56 per hour.
 
MSU, Mankato

MICO, Incorporated

Partnership

MICO will train 352 machinists, customer service representatives, inspectors, supply chain workers, packers, tool workers and time study analysts. Classes in “lean manufacturing,” Pro/E manufacturing software, customer service and communication skills will be offered. MICO will reduce lead and rework time by at least 10%. MSU, Mankato will gain experience in “lean manufacturing” and Pro/E software training. Wages will range from $11.25 to $28.42 an hour.

Thin Film Technology Corp. $54,995 Partnership
Thin Film Technology engineers, managers, sales, and marketing staff need cross disciplinary training to facilitate company growth. Training for 28 employees will include: business statistics, production and operation management, organization design, circuit design, professional selling, cost accounting and physics. The training will take place onsite and   will be customized for each participant. As a result of this program, TFT expects a 20% growth in its employee base, productivity, and revenue growth over the next three years. Wages will range from $21.00 to $34.36 an hour.
 

Alexandria TC

Alexandria Extrusion Company

In order to take advantage of emerging technologies, 299 AEC employees must be trained in data acquisition and IT systems. Alexandria TC will partner with the University of St. Thomas to provide training. Employees will receive custom, credit based training according to job requirements and individual need. In addition to technology training, other training topics will include, Chinese culture, marketing and leadership. Wages will range from $10.52 to $ 41.52 an hour.
 

Central Lakes College

Integra Telecom

Partnership

In line with Integra’s expansion project and strategic plan, 185 existing employees must be trained in computer system programs, quality standards, communications, team-building, problem solving and specific telecommunications technical training. CLC and Dakota County TC, which are partnering to present training, will build their capacity in telecommunications training. This project will also help promote the statewide school-to-work initiative. Wages will range from $9.00 to $23.00 an hour.
 

Carver Scott EC

Nilfisk-Advance

Nilfisk purchased and merged with Kent, Inc. The merger has created a growth crisis. This training for 155 employees will take place onsite at Nilfisk-Advance. Ridgewater College will provide supervisory training. CSEC will provide manufacturing, diversity and communication training. Nilfisk will provide integrated business software training. Participants will receive certificates upon completion. Wages will range from $11.50 to $27.50 an hour.
 

Anoka-Ramsey CC

Health Care Consortium

This project will train 258 healthcare workers in leadership development. Training areas will focus on creating a collaborative workplace, organization communication, developing a training network, coaching to reinforce work behavior, and recruitment and healthcare promotion. This partnership will enhance the businesses leadership skills of supervisory staff, increasing their ability to create a work environment that both attracts and keeps employees. Wages range from $8.57 to $29.72 an hour.
 

Winona State University

Red Wing Shoe Company

Red Wing Shoe Company is facing fierce global competition, a reduced labor force and the need to implement new technology. RWSC and WSU will develop and deliver a Certified Manager Certification Program to train 160 supervisors and managers to cope with these issues. Training will utilize web-based   and CD-ROM delivery. It will create a model which WSU will use to encourage other companies to participate in the Certified Manager Certification Program. Wages will range from $22.47 to $33.11 an hour.
 

Ridgewater College

Artesyn Technologies

Artesyn requires a workforce that is knowledgeable in high tech skills such as communicating with a network system via programmable ROMs. This 3-year program for 481 employees will be delivered using high-end learning technologies, on-site instruction, company internships, Internet and email connections to instructors, lab assistants and learning cohorts in the electronics program at Ridgewater. Ridgewater anticipates that this project will increase its capacity to teach a cutting edge electronics curriculum. Wages will range from $10.82 per hour to $16.22 an hour.

Pathways

As our population ages, the demand for long-tern care increases. This project will assist the partner businesses by providing increased educational opportunities for 184 Partnership trainees and 185 Pathways trainees in the long-term care field. The components of this project are ESL and basic skills training, supervisory training, a mentorship program, certified nursing assistant training and an LPN starter program. AHTC expects this project will create a new entry-point for college health care programs. Wages will range from $7.96 to $19.15 an hour.
 

South Central TC

Crown, Cork & Seal Company

$204,000

Partnership

Crown, Cork & Seal currently has four facilities nationwide. Three of the facilities will be upgraded through installation of new “super end” high speed manufacturing equipment. One of the facilities will eventually be closed. If it can demonstrate that its workforce has the skills necessary to operate the “super end” equipment, the Mankato plant will be upgraded. CCC&S Mankato and SCTC have cooperatively planned an instructor led and self study curriculum for 156 employees. A Machinist Apprenticeship Program will be developed over the 3-year course of the project. SCTC anticipates that this program will lead to the inception of other apprenticeship programs. Wages will range from $11.00 an hour to $35.00 an hour.
 
South Central TC Marathon Multimedia, LLC $213,000 Partnership
This information technology training program for 125 will offer courses in Access and SQL databases, Pagemaker, quality control, Extensible Markup Language, web page design and construction, and web programming and software. Training will also include time and project management, problem solving, and management/supervisory skills. This project will improve retention and recruitment of employees. South Central will gain experience with new and emerging software. Wages will range from $9.75 to $36.06 per hour.
 
Hibbing CC K-Byte $165,707 Partnership
This training is imperative for K-Byte to remain competitive within the electronic manufacturing industry. This training program for 620 employees will include a certification in production and Inventory management, continuous improvement methods, project management, quality control and offer an Electronic Technician Diploma. K-Byte will increase its employees’ technical knowledge. Hibbing CC. Will update its electronics curriculum. Wages will range from $8.25 to $25.00 an hour.
 
Hibbing CC Taconite Consortium $400,000 Partnership
The greatest workforce need in mining is for heavy equipment operators. This Mining Heavy Equipment Operator Program for 420 trainees consists of courses in mining operations, computer applications, mining loading, production haul roads, theory of drilling and blasting, and mining shovel operations. The partner taconite companies will benefit from an increased flow of qualified job applicants, increased safety and increased productivity.   Hibbing CC will add a new technical degree program to its program offerings. The average wage is $18.50 per hour.
 
St. Paul TC McQuay International $399,931 Partnership
St. Paul TC will train 640 employees of McQuay in “lean manufacturing”. Areas of training will include assembly, welding, scheduling and purchasing. Workplace skills assessment for each trainee will help determine the level of training needed. Upgrading basic skills will provide a smoother transition to the Lean Manufacturing Training Program. SPTC will improve its ability to provide targeted training. Wages will range from $12.50 to $19.00 an hour.
 
Northland C TC Arctic Cat, Inc. $400,000 Partnership
Northland CTC will work with Arctic Cat to train 405 employees in three major areas: plastic injection molding, basic manufacturing principles, and robotic welding. Through this project, Arctic Cat will increase employee understanding of the “lean manufacturing” and “continuous improvement” techniques, which will reduce production time, cut accident frequency, and increase the first pass quality rate. Northland CTC will have the opportunity to develop specialized certificates and a degree in Manufacturing Technology. Wages will range from $13.50 to $40.00 an hour.
 
MSC-SE Technical Fairview Hospital $399,993 Partnership
This healthcare training program will train 400 consortium member employees in four programs: Imaging Technology, Medical Laboratory Technician, Surgical Technician and Registered Nurse. New curriculum will be added to existing programs at MSU-SE Tech to form the basis for a complete health care program. Employee-trainees will be enrolled in two to four semesters of study, earning between 32 and 75 credits. Associate of Applied Science and Associate of Science Degrees will be available. Additional training will be available in advanced medical secretarial skills, computer skills, and supervision and management skills. Wages will range from $11.68 to $27.12 an hour.
 
MSU-SE Technical Benchmark Electronics $350,000 Partnership
This program will 577 train Benchmark production workers in the skills needed to maintain competency in ISO9001 and EN46001 Quality Systems Regulations. The project will take place over a 36-month period utilizing custom credit courses leading to program management, program coordinator and electronic assembly certificates. This inaugural project for MSU SE Tech's Center for Professional and Career Development will   help develop a curriculum that can be utilized in future custom training programs. Wages will range from $8.25 to $30.47 per hour.
