Educating healthcare personnel continues to be a pressing issue in Minnesota and across the country. This project will assist three major health care businesses with common curriculum and training needs, who are also very supportive of the Simulation Center at Metropolitan State University (MSU). MSU will provide training for 1,137 key professionals from each of the three partnering businesses, focusing on three areas: Pediatrics, Adult and Child, and Obstetrics. The addition of a new Infant Simulator at MSU will allow curriculum to be developed for infants, as well as school-aged children, on pressing pediatric specialties. Employees will gain and practice knowledge, technical skills and critical thinking strategies, resulting in improved patient care. This training will expand the capacity of the Simulation Center, and will be available to share with a broader health care audience.

On-site computer kiosks will provide employees access to training modules and tests with audio and photo options to enhance comprehension for its diverse employee base. A total of 659 employees (including 83 new hires) will receive job applicable training via courses that include: SJM Technical Writing Standard and Formats, Grammar and Syntax in Technical Writing. As a result of this project, Dakota County Technical College will increase their capacity in the area of Biotechnology.
