This grant will provide training in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and Six Sigma for 2,085 St. Paul plant employees.

St. Paul College   Wilson Tool International   $232,084 Partnership
This grant will help create Wilson Tool University and a succession planning system. About 481 machinists, managers, engineers, and manufacturing and technical staff will receive training.

Northland Community & Technical College Lean Health Consortium $352,692

Partnership

About 228 employees of Northwest Minnesota healthcare employers will receive training in lean healthcare practices and continuous improvement.

Dakota County Technical College Toro $398,992

Partnership

Uniform training in lean manufacturing will be given to 1,875 Toro employees with the grant.

Pine Technical College   FLOE International $268,000

Partnership

This grant will fund training for 572 employees in four specific areas, including best safety practices; machine tear down and maintenance and total preventive maintenance; occupational English and intercultural communication skills; and foundry orientation and operations.

Pine Technical College Progress Casting Group $283,000

Partnership

This grant will fund training for 572 employees in four specific areas, including best safety practices; machine tear down and maintenance and total preventive maintenance; occupational English and intercultural communication skills; and foundry orientation and operations.

Alexandria Technical College Brenton Engineering $280,000 Partnership
This grant will support advanced packaging automation and motion control training for 150 Brenton Engineering employees. The company, a world leader in the packaging industry, anticipates adding 24 jobs over the three-year grant period.

Central Lakes College   Crestliner $233,416

Partnership

This grant will assist Little Falls’ fourth largest employer to implement and maintain a formal quality management system. About 423 employees, including sales, purchasing, customer service and quality manager, will earn continuing education units for training. In addition, Crestliner plans to hire over 30 employees during the two-year grant.

Century Community College Reell Precision Manufacturing $334,685

Partnership

This grant will support four areas of training for 206 precision-manufacturing employees, including adult learning styles, coworker foundation skills, workforce diversity, and Lean Sigma. The project will impact Reell’s productivity and coworker skill enhancement.

Rochester Community & Technical College Schmidt $227,183 Partnership
Located in Byron, Schmidt is the area’s largest commercial print shop and one of the largest insert card printers in the United States. Training for 171 employees will include web offset press training, advanced web operations, and bindery training.

South Central Technical College Broin Companies $131,559 Partnership
This grant will provide 150 Broin Companies mangers, assistants, operators, controllers, supervisors and maintenance staff training in environmental and safety issues for the ethanol industry. In addition, SCTC will work with the company to create a global environment and safety management training program.

Minnesota State College - SE Technical DBI $393,989 Partnership
This grant will provide 228 DBI production, maintenance and administrative employees with training in leadership and lean manufacturing.

Minnesota State College - SE Technical Red Wing Shoe Company $283,566 Partnership
This project will help the Red Wing-based footwear manufacturer implement a make-to-order process by training 508 employees in Six Sigma, lean overview, value stream mapping, and total productive maintenance.

Normandale Hitchcock Industries $393,989 Partnership
This grant will help Hitchcock Industries, supplier to the aerospace industry, create a “visual workplace”. About 369 employees will receive training. Visual Power English, and intensive visual-based conversational English program, will give Hitchcock employees immediate basic conversational skills.

Normandale Taylor Corp. $392,064 Partnership
This grant will assist Taylor Corporation implement an Entrepreneurial Lean Six Sigma program; 1,980 employees will receive training. Wedding and Greeting Entrepreneurial Business employees will have opportunities for personal development, recognition, and internal designations.

University of St. Thomas Fair Isaac Corp. $395,472 Partnership
This grant will support training for 437 employees in computer programming and project management, and help create a successful business culture. Employees will earn continuing education units and be given the opportunity for advancement and pay increases.

University of St. Thomas Tennant $392,606 Partnership
This grant will assist Tennant Company by providing a blend of lean, project management, and Six Sigma training for 899 research and development, manufacturing, engineers, IT and human resources employees.

Inver Hills Community College Sensor Systems, Goodrich Corp $392,606 Partnership
This grant will assist Sensor Systems in entering the homeland security market by supporting training in optical and laser technology for 164 employees.

Inver Hills Community College Xcel $377,403 Partnership
This grant will assist Xcel energy move to e-learning, as they implement a computerized outage management system to be placed in 200 to 300 trucks.

Metro State University Nursing Consortium $399,994 Partnership
This grant will assist the nursing consortium develop an accelerated Bachelor of Science in nursing and specific continuing education for nurses and other health professionals. Of 2,500 trainees, 2,470 will earn credit certificates, and 30 will earn a BSN degree.

Anoka Technical College  Federal Cartridge $42,000 Short Form Partnership
This grant will assist Federal Cartridge implement Lean manufacturing training. This training will enable Federal Cartridge to place themselves on the cutting edge of efficient manufacturing technologies.

Anoka-Ramsey Community College Top Tool Co. $49,444 Short Form Partnership
Top Tool Company’s need are related to their growth, both in service areas and employees, and a need to improve processes and systems to cut waste and operate more efficiently.

Century Community College Axis MN $48,910 Short Form Partnership
Axis had identified approximately seven areas of training needed in order to meet regulatory training requirements and to meet company quality care standards.

Rochester Community & Technical College Modular Computing & Comm $49,911 Short Form Partnership
The training provided through this project will assist the company in successfully launching and growing its business in the marketplace.

St. Paul College Dacon Manufacturing Co. $43,511 Short Form Partnership
Having identified opportunities to increase their sales by entering new markets and developing new customers Dacon, thru this training will become ISO 9002 registered.

St. Paul College Industrial Louvers $49,922 Short Form Partnership
Industrial Louvers’ goal is to re-engineer their production processes to become more efficient, improve their quality control, and create an added sense of value for the customer.

Teamworks AKA $25,000 Short Form Partnership
This grant will help AKA support the growth of a new business located in the JobZ Zone in Park Rapids, MN.

Teamworks Lamb-West/RDO $36,000 Short Form Partnership
This grant will assist ConAgra/Lamb Weston/RDO in their efforts to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of their employees and plant through the efforts of “Best Practices” and Food Production.

Teamworks Renneberg Hardwoods $42,000 Short Form Partnership
Renneberg Hardwoods has grown from a two-man shop to a company with double-digit growth. In order to continue on their growth plan and become more efficient, they are going to need to develop a Lean and effective manufacturing environment.

Century College Axis MN $150,000 HELP Loan
Axis Minnesota, Inc. will partner with Century College using both loan proceeds and MJSP grant funds. The loan proceeds are needed to cover additional costs of changing and improving the training methods and formalizing the training process, as well as implementing more robust documentation and tracking systems.
