Paddock Laboratories Workforce to Benefit from
Three-Year Training Project with State Grant
--Scientific and Business Training for 169 Employees--
St. Paul – Paddock Laboratories, Inc. will focus on increasing the educational and skill levels of their workforce, funded with a Minnesota Job Skills Partnership grant awarded to the University of Minnesota today.
The $385,739 grant will support a three-year training collaboration of MJSP, University of Minnesota, and Paddock Laboratories, Inc., a privately-held pharmaceutical company located in Minneapolis. Paddock Laboratories will contribute more than $775,000 to fund the training project. About 169 scientists, chemists, lab analysts, executives, and craft employees will receive training.
Paddock Laboratories, Inc. and the University of Minnesota will jointly identify course topics and collaborate with Dr. Paul Langley, an internationally recognized health economist. Four areas of instruction will include: pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics; good laboratory practice; drug manufacturer and production; and business expansion. Courses will be delivered at the company and University facilities; some courses will be available online. At minimum, the employee-trainees will earn continuing education units.
“This partnership will allow Paddock Laboratories to obtain critical scientific skills for its workforce, improve its drug development and production capabilities, and provide the public with a wider variety of affordable drugs,” said Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner and MJSP Board Chair Dan McElroy.
The MJSP offers technical, financial and job training assistance to businesses, communities, educational institutions and workers. The board brings businesses with specific education needs together with educational institutions to design customized training programs.
