The China Practicum’ Offered by Minnesota Trade Office
St. Paul – A one-day immersion course for people who are interested in doing business in China will be offered by the Minnesota Trade Office in July.
The China Practicum will be held Tuesday, July 8, at the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, 332 Minnesota St., in downtown St. Paul. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., followed by the class from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
China, which has the largest population in the world and a rapidly growing economy and standard of living, is a promising emerging market for U.S. companies. The country is the second largest export market for Minnesota manufacturers, accounting for $1.13 billion in sales last year.
The course will provide participants with an overview for conducting business in China, including the basics of its economy; cultural values, attitudes and beliefs; intellectual property rights; and manufacturing environment. Participants will learn how to avoid costly mistakes and review strategies for conducting business transactions that are smooth, professional and productive.
A team of international trade professionals and China experts will share their perspectives and expertise during the class. Tony Lorusso, executive director of the Minnesota Trade Office, and Li King Feng, the agency’s international trade representative to China, will be among the speakers.
The cost of the class is $75 in advance and $95 at the door, including program materials, light breakfast and lunch. For more information or to reserve a space, contact Mary Jo Stangl at 651-259-7495 or mary.jo.stangl@state.mn.us.
