Disability Determination Services Program - Annual Program Summary
Purpose
This program, in accordance with federal law and regulations, determines if Minnesota applicants meet federal criteria for disability cash benefits under the Social Security Administration's Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income programs.
Customers and Services
Primary customers are the approximately 50,000 Minnesota residents, on a yearly basis, who file applications for disability benefits or are reviewed for continuing eligibility for payments. Applicants with disabilities who may benefit from rehabilitation services are also referred to the Department of Health's Minnesota Children with Special Health Needs Program.
