- Manufacturing Camp.

- Summer camp had a fresh new look in 2007 for 18 young men. They were the first to partake in what could become the Minnesota model for introducing manufacturing to youth and young adults with disabilities. The "Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) - Pathways To Employment (PTE) Inaugural Manufacturing Camp" was held July 16-26, 2007 at the Hennepin Technical College, Brooklyn Park campus. Through skills-building, post-secondary education connections and industry tours, the participants gained key information to help them in the career planning process. The results of the evaluation survey and a step-by-step outline for how you can plan a similar event are now available.

- On November 7, 2007 the Minnesota State Council on Disability (MSCOD), in partnership with PTE, held a public event to discuss issues related to transportation, people with disabilities and employment, "The Long Road To Work: A Transportation and Employment Dialogue." - Pathways to Employment (PTE) funding has supported four DisabilityVenture pilot projects to help individuals with disabilities effectively access small business development resources in Minnesota. Four small business development organizations were awarded grants by the Department of Employment and Economic Development's Rehabilitation Services (RS) to develop better ways of supporting persons with disabilities while they are considering developing small businesses. After 18 months of operation, during which approximately 150 consumers received some type of service by one of the four contractors, RS conducted five evaluation focus groups with DisabilityVenture participants. Now available are the evaluation report and recommendations for Rehabilitation Services.
PTE funds support a full-time staff person dedicated to working within the Minnesota Department of Employee Relations (the State's human resource system) to help the State itself become a model employer of people with disabilities. The State of Minnesota employs over 28,000 people.- Disability Linkage Line Report [PDF] [Word]. This is a June 2007 report to the community about Disability Linkage Line (DLL), a comprehensive statewide information and assistance network and call center.
- In 2007 stakeholders from Pathways to Employment, Centers for Independent Living, employer organizations, disability advocacy organizations and other interested in innovative practices in supported employment, developed a series of videoconferences, followed by a town hall forum. The purpose was to introduce new ideas and best practices and policies that support employment of people with disabilities who want to work. Materials from Outside Minnesota
- The Center for Workers with Disabilities (CWD), an affiliate of the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA), is a technical assistance center for states enhancing or developing employment supports programs for working persons with disabilities.
- APHSA is a 70 year-old bipartisan, non-profit organization dedicated to the development, promotion, and implementation of public human service policies that improve the health and well-being of families, children and adults. Its leadership is drawn from the state and local officials who oversee a broad range of programs.
- The CWD monthly newsletter has items of interest to those engaged in policies and programs that promote employment of persons with disabilities.
