School-to-Work Transition Services for Youth and Young Adults
What is Transition?
Transition is the passage from secondary school to adult life. Want to learn more?
What is the Minnesota VR program?
VR is a resource which assists youth and young adults with disabilities in their career planning, both while they are in school and after graduation.
High school students with disabilities that affect their ability to prepare for, secure, retain, or regain employment will have the opportunity to learn about WorkForce Center and VR services.

Minnesota VR Transition Values
- Best VR practice, in collaboration with other services, can improve employment outcomes for transition students with disabilities who both require and can benefit from these services.
- Every transition-age student who experiences a disability that affects their career planning and decision-making should have an opportunity to learn about Minnesota WorkForce Center services and the Minnesota VR program (which includes core and intensive services).
- VR transition practice must be consistent statewide.
- VR staff are leaders in the improvement of transition services. They are also leaders in communicating the needs of transition-age youth and young adults with disabilities to the public and to the state's public policy decision-makers.
- VR consumers are most successful when VR staff express positive attitudes through their work, when they believe in possibilities and apply best practices.
