Waiting List

When there isn’t enough VR funding to support new employment plans as well as plans that have already been approved, eligible new applicants are placed on a waiting list. When funds become available, a person leaves the waiting list according to their priority category and their date of application. Waiting lists are a way to conserve resources so that obligations the VR Program meets obligations it has already made.

Four Service Priority Categories

Persons are served in order of their priority category. When priority categories must be closed and a waiting list established, a lower priority category is closed before a higher category.

Priority Category One (highest priority) includes all individuals with a most significant disability, that is, persons whose condition results in serious limitations in three or more functional areas.

Priority Category Two includes all individuals with a significant disability that results in serious functional limitations in two functional areas.

Priority Category Three includes all individuals with a significant disability that results in a serious functional limitation in one functional area.

Priority Category Four includes all other eligible consumers. These consumers have a disability that makes them eligible for service but they do not have a serious limitation in a functional area.

At the current time, all categories are open other than category four.
